Yacomo: Lawrence Yacomo, 63, widely known in Southwest New Mexico mining circles, where he had operated in recent years in Grant and Hidalgo Counties and former resident of Silver City with his family, was killed last Friday in the crash of a private plane near Salida Colo. Also a victim of the fatal accident was I.E. Dalley, 48, Albuquerque. The daughter of Yacomo, Mary, 19, and two other passengers, Clay O. Koen, 35, and Harold Sanerfur, 28, both of Albuquerque, were seriously injured. Funeral services for Mr. Yacomo were held Wednesday at Lordsburg, were burial took place. Friends from Silver City and the mining district attended the rites.

YAMATO: Shinji Yamato, 93, of Hawaii died the night of Saturday, May 29, at his daughter's home in Silver City. He was born Aug. 7, 1905, in Paauhau, Hawaii, and was retired from Dole' Food Co., where he was a welder. Cremation has taken place at Baca's Mimbres Crematorium and memorial services will be scheduled in Hawaii at a later date. Survivors include two sons, Tetsuo Yamato and wife, Faith, of Alameda, Calif., and Takco Yamato of Lanai City, Hawaii; a daughter, Helen Vaughn, and husband, Roger, of Silver City; and three sisters, Mitsuc Osako of Lanai City, Katsue Shitamoto of Wailuku, Mauai, and Hisayo Kobayashi of Japan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Miyono Yamato, and two daughters, Shimako Yamato and Shizuc Teraoaka. Yandell: Patrick William Yandell, age 19, died August 29 in Dallas. He was born March 21, 1963 in Las Cruces, the son of Billy and Lucy Emerson Yandell. He is survived by his parents, Mrs. Bobby Shipley of Silver City and Billy Yandell of Dallas; one sister, Jinny Colter of Albuquerque; one brother, Paul Loyd of Dallas; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Kay Emerson of Deming and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Yandell of Las Cruces. Services were held Sept. 1 in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Rev. Ralph Hensley. Burial followed in Memory Lane Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Richard Stiles, Keith Stiles, John Wasson, Joey Ikard, Grant Gose and Pete Holguin. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Paul Herrera and Charlie Gose. Yarborough: Quentin R. Yarborough, 71, a longtime resident of Silver City, died Wednesday afternoon in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque. Mr. Yarborough was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Moody, Texas, to Claire Henson and Alfred Yarborough. He moved to Silver City and attended State Teachers College until he joined the service in 1941. Returning to Silver City, he was employed by the United States Postal Service until, again, he served in the military, during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Silver City. Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Jesse Liles officiating. Concluding services were in the Fort Bayard National Cemetery with veteran honors accorded by American Legion Allingham-Golding Post No. 18. Survivors are his wife, Gerry, of Silver City; two sons, Kip of Silver City and Kevin and his wife, Faye, of Carlsbad; a sister, Margie Wooten of Elgin, Texas; and four grandchildren, Holly, Laraand Stacy Yarborough and Annie Jacebo. Casket bearers were Kevin Yarborough, B. Nickell, Jim Powell, J. Hansord, Ollie McCreary and Lyman Greer. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels.

Yarborough: Steven Kip Yarborough, 30, of Silver City entered life eternal Sunday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 8, 1952, in Silver City and had resided in Grant County for the past 10 years, coming here from Arkansas. He was a data processor, and a member of the Haven Heights Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Ark., and the First Baptist Church in Silver City. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels with Pastor Jesse Liles officiating. Concluding services will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery. Survivors include his mother, Gerry Yarborough of Silver City; a daughter, Kara Yarborough of Locust Grove, Okla, a brother, S. Kevin Yarborough and his wife, Faye, of Carlsbad; and three nieces, Holly Yarborough of Fort Smith, and Stacy and Annica Yoarborough of Carlsbad. He was preceded in death by his father, Quentin Yarborough, in 1990. Casket bearers will be Lyman Greer, Fred Norton, Robert Everard, Roddie Everard, Norman Hodges and Steve Kelly. Mr and Mrs, W. 0. Little and their daughter, Candy, returned this week from’ Wichita. Falls, Tex., where, they attended funeral services held last Friday for Mrs. Little’s father Robert. Lee Yarboroügh, 72, a former 30 year resident of. New Mexico. Dr. Landrum P. Leavell, pastor, conducted the rites at the First Baptist church. Mr. Yarbough, retired, was a former rancher and school superintendent. He was born Feb. 22, 1892, at, Montague, Tex., and had been a - resident of New Mexico and graduated from Western New Mexico University in 1923. He formerly taught and was superintendent of schools in Roy, N. M For the past 12 years, he owned property in Silver City and spent a month or two each summer here with his daughter and family. He was a member of the Baptist Church, a former member of the University Kiwanis Club and the Wichita Falls Toastmasters Club. Other survivors Include his widow;, two other daughters, Mrs Kenneth Richards and Mrs Edgar Little both of Midland, Tx; a step-son, George McMackin of Wichita Fails; two sisters, Mrs Bailey Jackson, Dye-Mound, Tex., and Mrs. W. T. Shell of Wichita Falls; two brother., Judge Temple Yarborough of Arlington, Tex., and Ode Yüborough of Rock Springs, TX, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

YARBROUGH: Clayton Astor Yarbrough, 86, of Animas passed ‘away Sunday, Sept ? 6, at his residence. Memorial services will be conducted at the Yarbrough home in Animas at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Mr Yarbrough was born Sept. 3, 1912, in Animas, the son of Charles James Yarbrough and Dolly Mae Eades. He was married to Lillie Marie Lemons on May 14, 1930, in Animas. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Rosie Parsons of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, Cliff Yarbrough and his wife, Lucille, and Clyde Yarbrough and his wife, Glenda, all of Las Cruces; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two greatgr~t~g1randohi1dren; and one Sister Daphene Kimbley of Lordsburg. Mr. Yarbrough was a rancher all of his life. Lordsburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Yarbrough: George S. Yarbrough, 80, died Saturday in El Paso, Texas. He had been a resident of El Paso for the past 14 years and was a retired educator. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a 52 year old member of International Order of Odd Fellows Chapter No. 284; was a past president and charter member of the Portales Kiwanis Club, and served as Lieutenant Governor of the Southern District of the Kiwanis Club. He was a past president of the Elementary Principal's Association of New Mexico and was past president of the New Mexico National Education Association. He helped organize the Parkinson's Disease Support Group of El Paso. Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lee Yarborough of El Paso; a daughter, Mardell Manes of Hobbs; a son, G. Mark Yarborough of Albuquerque; two sisters, Mary Ellen Key of Bowie, Texas, and Martha Stout of Austin, Texas, a brother, Jeff Yarborough, of Sacramento, Calif., five grandchildren, and a niece; Mrs. Orval (Martha) Little, of Silver City. The Littles and their daughter, Barbara Peters, also of Silver City attended the funeral. Mr. Yarborough was in Silver City in May, when his late brother, Lee, was inducted into the Educational Hall of Fame at Western New Mexico University. Mr. Yarborough had many Silver City friends. Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Memory Gardens at the Valley Cemetery at El Paso with the Rev. Jimmy Neff officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Support Group of El Paso or the First Baptist Church of Santa Teresa. Arrangements were by Harding-Orr-McDaniel of El Paso.

YATES: George Voss Yates, 85, lifetime area rancher, died early Sunday morning at the Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home. He was born May 1, 1900 at Bear Canyon in the Mimbres and had ranched in this area all of his life. He -was a member of. the Georgetown Lodge No. 10 AF&AM. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther Yates in December 1976. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Baca’s Wheeler Funeral Chapels in Deming. Carl Shores of Socorro will officiate and internment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery with the Georgetown Masonic Lodge conducting the graveside service. Baca’s Wheeler Funeral Chapels is in charge of arrangements.

Word was received this week by Mrs. Stella Erbacher of Sliver City of the death in July at Exeter, Calif. of Mrs. Lon Yates, a former Grant County resident, who graduated from the New Mexico Normal School. Survivors are her husband and two daughters.

Yates: Bob G. Yates, 37, suffered a fatal heart attack here Saturday. Mr. Yates was a native of Bisbee, Ariz., and had lived in Tyrone the past year, where he was employed by Phelps Dodge corporation. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sulta Yates; three daughters, Patricia, Toni and Tammy all of Tyrone; his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Chesley Yates of Bisbee. Survivors also include one brother, George of Tyrone; one sister, Mrs. Sally Bond of Page, Ariz. and his grandmother, Mrs. Mabel Brooks of Bisbee. York: Jim M. York, 71, a 30 year resident of Silver City, died here July 26. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite of Silver City; three sons, Fred, J.M. and Leonard; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Jo Giblin; two stepsons, Donald and Ray Harris; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur, Al and Charlie York; and a sister, Mrs. Albert Smith. Funeral services were held July 30 in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel with Mr. Paul Wilkerson of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed in Memory Lane Cemetery.

Yates: Thurman E. Yates, 84, a Silver City resident for the last 50 years, entered life eternal Monday at his home in Pinos Altos. He was born Dec. 23, 1908, in Sierra Blanca, Texas, to Daniel and Abbe Beatrice Yates. Mr. Yates was a pilot and surface water engineer for the state of New Mexico, as well as a military pilot who flew many missions. He served as a civilian instructor at Gibbs Field Training Center in Fort Stockton, Texas, and later furthered his training for multiengine airplanes at Kelly Field at Fort Stockton. May 8, 1944, he was commissioned as a first lieutenant with the U.S. Air Force in Nashville, Tenn. Some of his missions included domestic ferrying of aircraft and supplies in all weather conditions. He flew supplies from India over the hump into China in the face of constant bad weather, topographic hazards, and enemy attack by fighter aircraft, small-arms and anti-aircraft fire. He was responsible for, and supervised and coordinated the activities of personnel and supplies from bases which were subsequently lost to the enemy, and participated in mass troop movements from one area to another. His military citations include the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, three battle stars for the China Campaign on Dec. 11, 1944, two Oak Leaf Clusters with his Air Medal, a citation from the People's Republic of China, and his pilot's wings as an honorary member of the Chinese air force in the China-India-Burma Theater. Mr. Yates owned and operated Yates Flying Service after the war. Always striving for perfection, he mounted a camera in the belly of his Bonanza aircraft, and he and Jim Hudson mapped and cataloged the state of New Mexico. They also took aerial photos in Colorado of U.S. government dynamite explosion tests at the Pueblo Ordnance Center. The two also took, more than 20 years ago, the original pictures in southeast New Mexico of what is now the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant site near Carlsbad. He also flew supplies, tools, cargo, and smoke jumpers for the U.S. Forest Service, and read snow gauges on Mogollon Mountain. He was a charter member and past president of the Grant County Pilots Association, and a life member and past master of Santa Rita Masonic Lodge No. 44. He served many years on DeMolay and Rainbow boards. He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 413, and a life member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3347 in Arenas Valley. He enjoyed every day of his life and loved people. He was the consummate gentleman. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 in Baca's Funeral Chapels with the Rev. David Goble, pastor of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Veteran’s honors will be accorded by Allingham-Golding Post 18 of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of the home; three daughters, Thurma Lee Spouse of Sandy, Utah, Deanna Brumley of Hobbs, and Vicky Ricks of Datil; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Casket bearers will be David Diaz, Gabby Hayes, David Matthews, Toby Laney, Steven Sprouse and Raymond Lewis. Honorary bearers will be George Gaylord, Hyman Kelly, Horace Bounds, Tom Foy, Murray Ryan and Bob Chamberlin. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. today in the Fort Bayard National Cemetery for William Evans Yates, 45, who died June 7 in an automobile accident. Yates was a Deming resident since 1982, was a security guard, was a former resident of Silver City, and was a Vietnam War veteran. Survivors are his brother, Jesse Morlan, and his sister Kathy Morlan. Arrangements were by Baca's Funeral Home.

YBARRA: Alicia Ybarra, 75, died Saturday in Silver city. Mrs Ybarra was born in Mogollon and was a lifelong resident of Grant County. She was a communicant of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She is survived by one son, Torbio Ramon Marquez of Challis, Idaho; five nieces, Clara Ortiz, Viola Herrera, Mary Lou Padilla, and Irene PadilIa, all of Silver City, and Lucy Chavez of. Vanadium; and many nieces and nephews from out of town, two sisters, Rafaela Stella of Albuquerque and Estephonie Bagge of Pocatello, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Steve Marquez, Patsy Marquez, Vicki Marquez, Michael Marquez, Robert Marquez, Mark Marquez and Jeffrey Marquez; and nine great-grandchildren. Rosary re-citation will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Wheeler Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 10a.m. Friday in St. Vincente de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City. Interment will be in the Catholic cemetery. The rev John Lauretti will officiate Arrangements by Wheeler.

YBARRA: Frank P Ybarra, born in Silver city on March 15, 1913, to Francisco Ybarra and Felicita Perez, died April 20 in Albuquerque. He had been a resident at Las Palomas Nursing Home for the past three years. Numerous family members were present when he went to meet his Lord. He worked as a building contractor for himself and for contractors in the Silver City and Albuquerque areas. He sponsored The Plasterers Little League team while in Silver City. He moved in 1969 to Albuquerque, where he worked for Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic School until he retired in 1976. After retirement, he continued working in maintenance for Dillards, Bob's Big Boy, Duke City Drive-in, and the Red Cross. He married Cruz Correa of Mimbres in 1937: Mr. Ybarra is survived by his wife, three children, 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three sisters.

Henry Ybarra 30, member of well-known Sliver City family, died last Thursday night after a lingering illness. Born in Silver City he attended school here. Since his youth he had been an invalid. He is survived by his widow two children Roy and gloria Jean; his mother Mrs Fellicia Ybarra; three sisters, Mrs Lorenzo Tarrin, Angelina and Delfina Ybarra; and three brothers Frank, Ferman and Paul Ybarra. Funeral services were held Saturday with mass at the catholic church and burial in the Catholic Cemetery. Directed by Cox Mortuary.

Encarnacion N. Ybarra, 83, a resident of Silver city for 76 years, died last Wednesday at Hillcrest Hospital. He was a retired laborer. Surviving are four sons, Pasquel of Silver City.; Valente of New Orleans, La.; Rumaldo of Los Angeles,. Ca and Manuel of Tucson, Ariz.; seven daughters, Miss Lena Ybarra, MIss Andrea Ybarra, Mrs. Cecilia Ceniceros and Mrs. Eulalia Messerla, all of Los Angeles, Miss Phyllis Ybarra of Silver City, Mrs. Elina Fresquez of Lordsburg, and Mrs. Augustina Holguin of Tucson, AZ.; 20 grandchildren 21 great-grandchildren, and two greet, great grandchildren.

YBARRA: Paul P Ybarra 60, died Friday in Silver City. Mr. Ybarra was born in Silver Cit and made his home here. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Ybarra was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors are his wife, Sandra Ybarra of Silver City two daughters, Darlene Rice and Debra Lasher, both of Lancaster. Calif.; two sons, Paul P Ybarra Jr. and Ronald Ybarra, both of Fresno CA; three sisters, Angie Lara, Delfina Ybarra, and Ann Tarim, all of Silver city; two brothers, Frank Ybarra of Albuquerque and Ferman Ybarra of Los Angeles CA; nine grandchildren and --- great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited tonight at Curtis-Bright Funeral chapel, and Mass of the Resurrection will he at 10am Tuesday in the St. Vincent de Paul Church with monsignor James A Milano officiating. Mr. Ybarra was a member of the Catholic Church, and was a retired laborer. Calling hours will be from 2-4 Tuesday afternoon in Baca's funeral Chapel's, where the vigil service will be held Wednesday morning at 10 at St. Vincentde Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. George Reynolds officiating. The committal rite service will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with the veterans honors accorded by Allingham-Gold Post No. 18 of the American Legion. Ybarra: Benjamin Vasquez Ybarra, 79, a longtime resident of Lordsburg, entered into life eternal Wednesday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan 19, 1913, in Rancho de Marcos, Jalisco, Mexico, to Miguel and Isabel Ybarra. He was a miner and mill operator, and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lordsburg. Calling hours will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where the prayer vigil will begin at 7p.m. The funeral liturgy will be held Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Sam Garcia officiating. The rite of committal will follow at the Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg, where he will be laid to rest. He is survived by three sons, Benny Ybarra Jr. of Silver City, Richard Ybarra of Los Lunas and Gilbert Ybarra of Lordsburg; and three daughters, Carmen Gandara and Empidia Medina of Lordsburg, and Irene Vasquez of Morenci, Ariz. He is also survived by two sisters, Deloris Chacon of San Jacinto, Calif., and Connie Burkey of Chino, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Ybarra: Elena Ybarra, 86, a lifelong resident of Silver City, passed away Sunday at Hacienda de Salud. She was born in Silver City on Jan. 2, 1909 to Carnacion and Elisa (Braun) Ybarra, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Silver City. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Alice DeTevis and her husband, Lloyd of Albuquerque and Gloria Llamas and her husband, Hilario of Arcadia, Calif.; three sisters, Andrea Valles of Silver City, Phyllis Millet of West Jordan, Utah and Lillian Messerle of Palmdale, Calif.; a brother, Manuel Ybarra, and his wife, Epifania of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, including Ralph Dominguez and his wife, Terry of Silver City, Diane Smith and her husband, Kent of West Jordan, Dennis Dominguez of West Hills, Calif., Deborah Jean Hidalgo and her husband, Tony of Albuquerque, Cecilia Dickson and her husband, Patrick, Judy Dufort and Greg Llamas, all of Brea, Calif., Jon Llamas and Joe Llamas, both of Las Vegas, Nev. , and Jim Llamas of Marcos, Calif.; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ybarra: Death last Thursday night in Hillcrest General Hospital claimed Mrs. Elisa B. Ybarra, 76, a long-time resident of Silver City. She is survived by her husband, Encarnacion Ybarra; four sons, Pasqual and Valente of Silver City; Rumaldo and Manuel, of Los Angeles and seven daughters, Phyllis, Silver City; Elena, Lordsburg; Mrs. Augustina Holguin, El Paso; Avilina Ybarra, Mrs. Andria Valles, Mrs. Cecilia Cisneros and Mrs. Eulia Messerle, Los Angeles; A sister, Mrs. Rose Bencomo, Bayard; 17 grandchildren andsix great grandchildren. Rosary services were held Sunday evening at the Cox Mortuary chapel, with mass at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, followed by burial in the Catholic cemetery.

Ybarra: Elvira M. Ybarra, 70, of Lordsburg passed away Sunday at Gila Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Ybarra was born Oct. 8, 1921, in New Mexico to Florentino and Carmen [Rodriguez] Martinez. She resided in the area all of her life and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lordsburg. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Ybarra of Lordsburg; three sons, Benny Ybarra of Silver City, Richard Ybarra of Tome, N.M., and Gilbert Ybarra of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Empidia Medina of Lordsburg, Irene Vasquez of Morenci, Ariz., and Carmen Gandara of Lordsburg; two brothers, Manuel Martinez of Tucson and Jesus Martinez of Albuquerque; two sisters, Erlinda Gonzales of Albuquerque and Christina Escalera of Riverside, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church in Lordsburg on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the church on Wednesday from 4 until 5 p.m. The rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 7. at St. Joseph's. Ybarra: Ernestina B. Ybarra, 60, of Silver City entered eternal rest Saturday in her home. She was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Silver City and had been a resident of Grant County for three years. She came to Silver City from Lordsburg, where she lived for many years. She was a housewife. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 in the First Assembly of God Church at 20th and Gold streets in Silver City with the Rev. Antonio Soliz of Las Cruces officiating. Survivors include her husband, Tommy Ybarra of Silver City; two sons, Paul Ybarra of Silver City and Emilio Ybarra of Las Cruces; five daughters, Stella Castillo of Silver City, Mary Valdez of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Angie Gomez, Emma Chavez and Barbara Sanchez, all of Silver City; a brother, Rudy Barragan of Safford, Ariz., two sisters, Lasara Provencio and Delfina Nartinez of Silver City; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Ybarra: Felicitas Grandma Ybarra, 90, died Wednesday in Hillcrest General Hospital. Mrs. Ybarra was born in Silver City and was a life long resident of the Grant County area where she was a communicant of the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She is survived by three daughters; Ana Tarin, Delphie Ybarra and Angelita Lara, all of Silver City, three sons, Frank Ibarra of Albuquerque, Ferman Ybarra of Los Angeles, Calif., Paul Ybarra of Silver City; a niece, Josefa Escobar of Lordsburg; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. Rosary Recitation was said Friday evening at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection was held Saturday Morning at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor A. James Milano officiating at both services. Burial followed in the Silver City Catholic Cemetery. Ybarra: Ferman Ybarra, former Silver City resident, passed away Monday in the Long Beach, Calif. veterans hospital after a long illness. Mr. Ybarra was the son of the late Francisco and Felicita Ybarra, lifelong area residents. Mr. Ybarra was born July 8, 1920, and received his education in Silver City, then joined the Navy in 1943 and served until 1947. He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. Funeral arrangements are pending in California. He is survived by his wife, Emily; two stepchildren, Ross and Cecilia; a brother, Frank Ybarra of Albuquerque; three sisters, Ana Tarin and her husband, Lorenzo, Delphie Ybarra and Angelita Lara, all of Silver City; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ybarra was preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Ray Ybarra , and her husband, Pasqual B. Ybarra. She is survived by three sons, Albert R. Ybarra, Freddie R. Ybarra and his wife, Ruth of Tucson, Ariz. and Richard P. Ybarra and his wife, Natalia of Silver City; two daughters, Ann Swearingen and her husband, John of Denver, and Lucy M. Mr. Ybarra is survived y his mother, Mrs. Gumie Contreras of Silver City, and one sister, Elsie M. Baca of Port Hueneme, Calif. Yduarte: Basilio P. Yduarte, 47, died at his residence Wednesday, November 13. He was a native of Silver City and had lived in Grant County all of his life. He was a retired worker for Kennecott Copper Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Elvira; four sons, Ray, Eddie, Larry and Augustin; two daughters, Mrs. Felicina Vasquez and Mrs. Ermelinda Flores all of Silver City; three brothers, Julian Quintanar, Alex Quintanar and Lazaro Quintanar, one sister, Mrs. Esperanca Arelleno all of Denver, CO. Mrs. Maud Yeager widow of Capt. C. E. Yeager,, who was assigned for many years to Fort Bayard and a pioneer resident of Pinos Altos and Fort Bayard, passed away the past week in El Paso, where she had lived in recent years. She is survived By a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Yeager Mrs. Yeager had a wide circle of friends in this community. Funeral services were held n El Paso, where burial is to take place.

Yeager: Gary P. Yeager, 45, a resident of Santa Fe, died Wednesday after collapsing in Gough Park in Silver City. Services are pending and will be announced by the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home.

YEATS: Jane Luce Yeats, a resident of Silver City, entered into rest Tuesday at Sunset Vista. She was born March 30, 1900, the second daughter of Bleecker Luce and Elizabeth Scott Luce On Feb. 27, 1920, she married Lt. Joseph Yeats at Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock, Ark., and began a life that took her to stations from Zamboanga, Philippine Islands, to St. Johns, New Found land, and much of the United States. An accomplished organist and pianist, her most memorable church services were one played in the Episcopal Cathedral in Manila and a service on small `ship' during a storm in the North Atlantic. She said later that if the piano and he chair had not been bolted to the floor, she would have had trouble. Mrs. Yeats taught English to non-English speakers, and reading and writing to the illiterate, and gave freely of her many talents. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society. Her most engrossing interest and participation was in they Episcopal Church. She was receded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Joseph Yeats. She is survived by her sons, retired Lt. Col. Joseph Yeats Jr. and his wife, Betty, in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., retired Lt. Col. Christopher Yeats and his wife, Chris Elizabeth, of Martinez, Calif., and retired Col. Ramona A Yniguez, 52, of Silver City died Friday,, Aug. 19 in Hillcrest hospital. She was born July 27, 1931 in Deming, the daughter of Simon ands Serifina Torres Arciero and was a resident of Silver City for all of her life. Mrs. Yniquez was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Sabino Yniguez of Silver City; three sons, Tony, Steve and Charles Yniguez, all of Silver City; one sister, Reyna Maldonodo of Silver City; one brother, Richard Torres of Silver City; two grandchildren, Marie Yniguez of Hurley and Steven Yniguez of Washington State. She was a member of the student council and a straight A student. Stormy is survived by her father, Ruben L. Yniguez of Hurley; her mother, Norma Garcia Yniguez of Tucson; two brothers, Ruben Yniguez and Toby Yniguez, both of Tucson; three sisters, Maisie Yniguez, Leila Yniguez and Selema Yniguez, all of Tucson; her maternal grandparents, Arturo A. and Elma C. Garcia of Hurley; her parental grandparents, Manuel Yniguez and Elvira Yniguez of Silver City; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. YNOStrOZA: Apolinio Polo Alvarado Ynostroza, a former resident of Fierro died Sept 17 at Bakersfield CA. Ynostroza was 70 years of age and resided in Bakersfield. Services were held in Bakersfield on Sept 21 with Monsignor Robert Rechenmacher officiating. Internment was in Greenlawn Memorial Park. He had resided since 1945 in Kern county CA where he was a cook for 25 years. He is survived by his wife Genevieve Ynostroza; daughter Linda Ynostroza; Sons Dr Frank Ynostroza of Bakersfield and Mike Ynostroza of Denver, roger Ynostroza of Hillsdale NJ, grandchildren Danielle of san Louise Abisbo, Fransesca of Bakersfield and Gabriel of Hillsdale NJ, Victoria of Denver CO, Melchor Apolonio of and Bojas of Bakersfield; a sister Victoria Sanchez of Bayard and Agnes Beck a longtime friend.

She was the daughter of Manuel Heredia and Leonla Aurora Saenz. She Is survived by five daughters, Lora Congdon and husband, Bruce, of Phoenix, Tillie Cook of Santa Clara, Carmen Ynostroza of Bayard, Connie Gerlach of Las Vegas, Nev., and Aurora Suzie Conley and husband, Rick, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Frank Ynostroza and wife, Sandy, of Silver City, and Eligio Ynostroza Jr. and wife, Lucille, of Las Vegas, Hey.; two sisters, 3Martina Cazares of Montecello Calif, and Lola Telles of Bayard; nine grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eligio A. Ynostroza, ta 1980, and a son, Matins Ynostroza, in 1959. The family will hold a private funeral. Arrangements are with Bright Funeral Home.

Ynostroza: Eligio Alvarado Ynostroza, born December 1, 1908, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, passed away June 2, 1980, in Silver City. He is survived by his wife, Apolinar H. Ynostroza; two sons, Frank Ynostroza, Silver City and Eligio, Jr., Las Vegas, Nevada; five daughters, Lora Congdon, Tucson; Tillie Cook, Central; Connie Gerlach, Las Vegas; Carmen Ynostroza, Las Vegas; and Aurora Conley of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Polo Ynostroza of Bullhead City, Nevada and two sisters, Victoriana Sanchez of Bayard and Manuela Realivasquez and nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Special memorial services were held June 4. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 5 at 11 a.m. All arrangements are being handled by the Wheeler Funeral Home. Carl Waldrip officiated at the memorial service and Paul Hernandez will officiate at the funeral service.

Ynostroza: Felipa A. Ynostroza died Oct. 3 at Hillcrest General Hospital. She was born May 1, 1897 in Mexico. She was a resident of Grant County for the past 23 years. She is survived by her sons, Guadalupe Ynostroza, Jose Manuel Ynostroza of Bayard; daughters, Paula Campos of El Paso, Natalia Ynostroza of El Paso, Nestora Ynostroza of Ariz., Beva Holguin of Bayard, Magdalena Martinez of Bayard, Maria Velvarde of Flagstaff. She is survived by 45 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ynostroza was a member of the Church of Christ of Bayard. Services were held Monday at 7 p.m. in the Wheeler Chapel, Michael R. Cordova officiating. There was also a service Tuesday at the Wheeler Chapel with Miguel Bustillo officiating. YOAKUM: Clyde Yoakum, 83, of Silver City entered life eternal Monday at Homestead Adult Shelter Care. He was born in Ray County, Mo., to the late Pryor Yoakum and Mary Jane ~ Davis. He moved to Grant County in 1980 from Golden, Cob., after retiring from Martin Marietta as a wood tool dye maker. He served in the South Pacific with the 1st Cavalry Army battalion during World War II. He was actively involved in the Gila Fish & Gun Club. In 1980, he helped build the Grant County Shooting Range. He was a member of the Grant County Archaeology Club. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Sandra Flower, and stepson, Jason Kline, of Silver City; three sisters, Ernestine Misel of Richmond Mo., Mary Kincaid of Polo, Mo., and Maudean O’Dell and her husband, Herman, of Hemet, Calif.; a brother, John, and his wife, Ann, of Grandview, Mo.; his brother-in-law, John Arnold; a sister-in-law, Frances, and her husband, Ralph Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clare, in 1995. At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at Memory Lane Rose Garden. Rueben H. Yoast, 72 of Las Cruces, a veteran of World War I, died Monday at the Fort Bayard Hospital. He was a retired farmer. Survivors are a brother, Irvin Yoast of Dos Pablos, CA., and a sister Mrs. C. H. Rouch, Long Beach, Calif. Wheeler mortuary of Deming had charge of funeral services- Burial took place in the Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Yoast: Funeral Services Today At Mesilla Park For Mrs. Yoast. Mrs. Ivy Grant Yoast, esteemed New Mexico educator and retired official of the New Mexico extension Service, passed away Monday morning at the Grant County Hospital where she had been a patient for several days. She was 67 years of age. Ivy Grant Yoast was born Ivy Joanne Grant, in 1883, in Fairplay, Wis. Her father was Mitchell Warren Grant and her mother America Matilda Roberts. At the age of three her parents moved to Joplin, Mo., where her father was employed as a mining engineer. She attended the Joplin public schools, graduating from the Joplin High School and Joplin Business College. She also attended Joplin Conservatory of Music. As a young girl she came west in the late nineties and was one of the schoolteachers in this section of New Mexico. In 1900 she married Hiram A. Yoast, a Sierra County rancher. To this marriage were born three daughters, Eva Joanne, Dorothy Elizabeth, and Joanne Francis. In 1918, Mrs. Yoast entered the employ of the New Mexico Extension Service. Beginning as a stenographer, she was made extension secretary in 1920 and in 1921 was made extension editor, which position she held until her retirement in 1945, after 27 years of continuous service. Mrs. Yoast was a member of Epsilon Sigma Phi, an honorary fraternity of the Extension Service. She was a talented musician, artist and writer, and enriched the lives of those who knew her by the generous use of her talents. After her retirement, Mrs. Yoast lived in El Paso until coming to Silver City in August of 1949, where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Y. Hanny, until the time of her death. She is survived by three children, Mrs. J. R. Johnson of El Paso; Mrs. Dorothy Y. Hanny of Silver City; and Mrs. Earl Wise, Quitaque, Tex. In addition there are five grandchildren who survive her, Dorothy and Joe Johnson of El Paso, Jaonne Hanny of Silver City, and Dotty Jo and John Earl Wise of Quitaque. Funeral services will be conducted by the rev. Bancroft Smith at St. James Episcopal Church at Mesilla Park today at 3 p.m. Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery in Las Cruces. Services in Las Crices will be under the direction of the Graham Mortuary. Local arrangements are being made by the Cox Mortuary.

Yocky: Grace Lucile Yocky of 713 West Spruce, Deming, died Friday, Nov. 19, at a Deming Hospital. Mrs. Yocky was born June 1,1896, in Center, Mo., and was a resident for the past 48 years of New Mexico. Services were held on November 22 at the Wheeler Mortuary in Deming. Burial was in the Fort Bayard Cemetery. Survivors include her husband Gilbert Yocky Sr., Deming; one son, Gilber Jr., Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren, Kathryn and David Yocky, Denver, and one sister, Winnie Fanning, Perry, Mo.

Mrs. Helen Patricia York wife of Roy York, Santa Rita, died Tuesday night at Santa Rita hospital. Born In Rankin, Texas, January 31, 1907, Mrs. York had resided In Santa Rita for 20 years, where the family is well known. Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Clarice, Maxine and Janlce her parents Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Swope four sisters, Mrs. Mary Trammell and Mrs. D. H. Stiekley, Reydon, Oklahoma; Mrs. T H Barber and Mrs. Cecilia O’Heron, Albuquerque and two brothers. Edward and Leo Swope, Reydon, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held Friday morning at 1o o’clock at St. Vincent de Paul Church, the Rev. J. P. Linnane officiating. Clifton Henderson officiating. Born in Silverdale, Kansas, Mrs. York came to Grant County in 1932. Survivors include one son, Ray York, Silver City; two daughters, Mrs. May Smith, Silver City; and Mrs. Fay Hunter, Globe, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Marguerite M. York, 73, passed away Saturday, November 12, at her residence in Silver City, Mrs. York was a native of Kearney, Neb., and was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service. She was Past Noble Grand of the Rebecca Lodge in Silver City, an active member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a member of the D.A.V. Women’s Auxiliary, Mrs. York is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Betty Jo Giblin of Lancaster, Calif., five Sons, Donald Harris, Sr. of Las Cruces, Raymond Harris of Las Cruces, J. M. York of Riverside, Calif., Fred York of Pomona, Mo., Leonard York of Salem, Ore., 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Survivors also include a sister, Mrs. Eula Foxen of Remsen, Iowa, two brothers, Joseph Smith of Temple, Tex. and John Smith of Phoenix, Ariz. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 15 in the Curtis. Bright Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don McDowell of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in Memory Lane Cemetery. York; James C. York, 72, died Sunday at Ft. Bayard Medical Center. Mr York was born in Castel, Okla., on Dec. 21, 1909. He was a retired environmental test operator in the Civil Service. Mr York is survived by a daughter, Analee Franzoy of Salem, N.M. ; and a son, John C. York of Chandler, Ariz.; a sister Alma Whitlow of Modesto, Calif.; three brothers, Hal York and Marvin York, both of Los Alamos, N.M. , and Kenneth York of Marion, Ohio; and six grandchildren. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday at the Salem Baptist Church in Salem, N.M., the Rev, Hoss Belk officiated. Burial followed at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hatch, N.M. Elmer D. York, 56, of Keany, Ariz., died August 30 following a sudden attack of illness, at the Kearny Hospital. Mr. York was a former longtime resident of this area, and worked at Hurley for the Chino Mines Division of Kennecott Copper Corporation. Survivors of the deceased include his widow, Mrs. Doris York; two sons, Kenneth of Tempe; Ariz., and Michael C. of Kearny; a daughter, Meridith of Kearny; and one granddaughter. The Rev. Alfred Pace of the First United Methodist Church officiated at the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home. Burial followed in Memory Lane Cemetery.

York: Jim M. York, 71, a 30 year resident of Silver City, died here July 26. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite of Silver City; three sons, Fred, J. M. and Leonard; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Jo Giblin; two stepsons, Donald and Ray Harris; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur, Al and Charlie York; and a sister, Mrs. Albert Smith. Funeral services were held July 30 in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel with Mr. Paul Wilkerson of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed in Memory Lane Cemetery.

York: Lee Andrew York, 83, died Monday at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Silver City. He had been a resident of Grant County for 29 years. Survivors include a son, Elmer York of Kearney, Ariz.; a brother, J.M. York of Silver City; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were set for 3 p.m. Thursday in the Curtis Mortuary chapel, the Rev. James Lawless officiating. Burial was in Memory Lane Cemetery.

York: Marion Maxine York, 58, born Aug. 4, 1931, in Santa Rita, daughter of Roy and Nell York, passed away April 27 in Globe, Ariz. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janine and Willie Thomas, and three grandchildren, Yvette, Doreen and Ivan Thomas, all of Globe; two sisters, Clarice Bagwell of Steamboat Springs., Colo., and Janice Reed of Cliff; one niece; and three nephews. Services were held Tuesday in Globe. Private burial was in Glenwood.

York: Ray York, 63, of San Lorenzo, died Saturday at his home. Mr. York, a long-time Grant County resident, was born at Glenwood. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Kennecott, and was currently serving as the Fire Chief of the Lower Mimbres Fire Department. Mr. York was a member of the Santa Rita Masonic Lodge#44, the Martha Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, #57, and wasa past Rainbow Dad of the Santa Rita Rainbow Assembly. He was a World War II Naval veteran. He is survived by his wife, Rossie York, of the home; one daughter, Linda Everard of Carlsbad; one son, Terry York of Las Cruces; one sister, Fay Hunter of Globe, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 in the Curtis-Bright Chapel, with the Reverend C.M. Henderson officiating. Interment followed at Memory Lane Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Disert, Gene Tow, Albert Gallassini, Gene Fallassini, Carl Hardin, and Fidel Lucero. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

YOUNG: Andrea Trujillo (Lita) Young, 52, died Saturday morning in Silver City. Mrs. Young was born in Tortugas and was a longtime resident of Grant County. She is survived by one daughter, Dolores Young of Hurley; one son, Robert Young of Albuquerque: her mother, Jesnsita Villegas of Hurley, three sisters, Manuela Chavira of Bayard, Mary Trujillo of’Silver City and Rosa Medina of Hurley two brothers, Teofilo Trujillo of Reserve and Joe Trujillo In of Hurley, and nine grandchildren. Rosary recitation will he held at 7 tonight in the Wheeler Funeral Home chapel and Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10 am. Tuesday with the Rev. Delmond B. Young, 70, of Reserve, died last Saturday. He had been a construction worked for the Ira Hollidy Lumber Company Inc. and a resident of the area for the past nine years. He is survived by his wife, ‘Hazel of Reserve; a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Sibely of Bates, Ore.; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Borigo, Corvallis, Ore.; one brother, Frank Young of Sodonia, Calif.
Funeral services were held in the Baptist Church at Reserve with the Rev. Horton Erwin officiating. Burial followed in the Reserve cemetery.

YOUNG: Henry Lucero Young, 80, died Monday evening in Silver City. Mr. Young was born in Santa Rita and had been a lifelong resident of Grant County. He was a communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Hanover and was a member of the Silver City Senior Citizens. Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Juanita Young of Gila, and. by numerous nephews and nieces. Rosary recitation will be held at 7:30 tonight in the Wheeler Funeral Home chapel and Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a. m. Thursday in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Hanover with the Rev. Tomas Perez officiating at both services. Interment will follow in the Fierro Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Escobar, Michael Jaramillo, Albert Jimemez, Larry Benavidez, Steve Escobar and Eddie Jaramillo. One of the few surviving mining men who pioneered New Mexico’s present-day Chino Mine operations at Santa Rita Hurley, Howard 0. Young died Sept. 7 in Long Beach, Calif. Mr. Young came to Santa Rita in I911 from Salt Lake City as the first storekeeper of Chino Copper Company, now Kennecott Copper Company’s Chino Mines Division. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elva Baker Young, and a son Parker Young of Long Beach. He was a grandson of Brigham Young. It was recalled that the first China storekeeper, had a part In the original operations at Chino pioneered by John M Sulley as the first’ general manager under the’ guidance of the West’s noted copper mining engineer and financier, Col. Daniel C. Jackling, now living in retirement in San Francisco. He established the present-day copper empire of Kennecott Copper Corp., embracing mines in Utah, Nevada, and Arizona.

Two local Grant County youths were killed whet, their car apparently traveling at high speed, failed to negotiate a turn on route 338 near Cotton City and hurtled 896 feet through the air. James Young, 21. son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Young of,. Tyrone, driver of the car, and Danny Dale Holman , 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Holman of Silver City were dead when investigating officers arrived. According to reports the accident. apparently happened at about 2:30 a.m. when the youth were returning from a dance in the area but the wreck was not discovered until the next morning. Holman was a graduate of Silver High School and an electrician employed by Southwest Electric of Silver City. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Silver City. Services for James Young were held Tuesday at the Wheeler mortuary in, Deming.

Mr Ralph Powers Young, 89, veteran of both World Wars passed away
this past week in Fort Bayard Veterans hospital. He was a widely known newspaper editor and columnist on the Buffalo NY News until illness forced his retirement. Survivors are his wife, Mrs Mary Young Lackawanna NY and a son, Lt. James O Young U S Army stationed at Fort Bliss TX. The body was sent to Washington for burial in Arlington cemetery.

Mrs Margaret Young, 50, a former resident of Santa Rita, died the past week in Sa Diego CA. She was the sister of Dan Thorne of Santa Rita.

Mr. Young served in tle U.S. Air Force and late worked for the Civil Service with the Marine Corps Barstow, Calif. before retiring. Lordsburg Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Robert Lucero Young, 45, died Tuesday night at the family home at 12th and Gold Sts. He had been ill only about a week and had been employed in construction work on the new library building at New Mexico Western College. Surviving are his wife, three sons and a daughter. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Cox Mortuary..

Mrs. Pete Acosta of 400 Hudson St. mourns the loss by death of a sister, Mrs. Rosie Elias, 25, formerly of Silver City, who died in San Francisco, and a brother William Young, who died in Los Angeles.

He was forty-five years old. Funeral services will be held at Selby this morning at 10:30. Surviving are his wife, Oleda, and two daughters, all of Selby; and his mother, Mrs. H.W. Young of Pinos Altos.

YOUNG: Howard I. Young, honorary board chairman of the American Zinc, Lead & Mining Company, died Monday afternoon at his home in St. Louis, Mo. He was one of the best-known mining executives in the United States. This company owns and operates the Peru Mine at Hanover of which Jerry Faust is the general manager. Private funeral services for Mr. young will be held in St. Louis on Thursday, followed by memorial services Friday at the Second Presbyterian Church. Mr. Young was well known in New Mexico mining circles.

Young: Joe B. Young, 73, a resident of Silver City entered into rest Sunday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 10,1921, in Mogollon. He was a World War II United States Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS St. Lo. Mr. Young served from Sept. 18, 1943 to Oct. 27, 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Presidential Citation and Asia Pacific Medal. He loved his family, a variety of pets, the Western lifestyle and nature. He will be missed by his family and friends in Silver City and especially those residing in California. He is survived by his sons, Ronnie Young and his wife, Vangie, of Alhambra, Calif., Alfonso Young and his wife, Martha, of Pico Rivera, Calif., Joe M. Young and his wife, Nina of Inyokern, Calif., and Robert Young and his wife, Linda, of Jacksonville, Fla.; his brother, Alfonso B. Young of Los Angeles; his stepson Gilbert Nevares of Arcadia, Calif.; and his sisters, Esther Acosta of Silver City, Delfina Ramirez and Isabel Young of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Calling hours were from 10 a.m. to noon today in Baca's Funeral Chapels. A graveside funeral service followed at 2 p.m. at Fort Bayard National Cemetery; with the Rev. Rod Nichols officiating. Military honors were accorded by local veterans groups. Young: Joseph T. Young, 87, of Bayard passed away Wednesday at Gila Regional Medical Center. Mr. Young was born Jan. 29, 1905, in Silver City to John and Sarra Young. He was a retired welder. He is survived by his wife, Silvestra {Maldonado} Young of Bayard; four daughters, Kathy Young, Janet Salcido, Marsha Messier and Arlene Maestas, all of Californial; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pricillia Young Heath of California. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard. The Rev. Paulus Kao will officiate. Young: Mrs. Martha Jane Young died early Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P.R. Pennington, at the age of 71. She was a resident of the area for over 15 years and was an active and faithful member of the Silver City Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Cox Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Clarence Crow officiating. Burial was in the Silver City Cemetery. Survivors are Mrs. P.R. Pennington, her daughter; a brother Lee of London, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. Fred Atter of Harlan, Ky., and a granddaughter, Prestene Pennington of Silver City. They were Mrs. Jesse Turner, Mrs. Florence Cravens, Mrs. May Massie, Mrs. Hattie Berry, Mrs. J.A. Hanbrook, Mrs. Posey Harrell, Mrs. Mattie Thompson, Mrs. Clara Martin, Mrs. Inez Huff and Mrs. J.F. Johnson Funk, Little Gerald Lynn Funk, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy J. Funk, formerly of Ft. Bayard, died Monday of this week, the victim of leukemia. Death came to the little sufferer, for whom medical science waged a notable battle, at Washington, D.C., where he had been a patient at the Georgetown University hospital since last March. Stricken with the blood-consuming disease for which no cure has been found, Gerald became the object of national attention when, through efforts of the American Red Cross and hundreds of kindly people, he and his parents were flown to Washington on the American Airlines for an experimental treatment with the new miracle drug, cortisone. Object of the treatment was to perform a delaying action against the disease in hopes that a cure could be found before the inroads became too great. For a time it appeared as if the experiment would be a success and the little patient rallied. After a while the treatment became futile and death claimed the victory. As an act of kindness on the part of the Veterans Administration by whom the baby's father was employed at Ft. Bayard, an assignment and transfer was arranged for him in Washington so that the family could be near the scene where the treatments, very expensive, were being given and the youngster comforted by their presence. Hundreds of people, most of whom were not remotely acquainted with the family, sent money contributions and words of comfort to the troubled parents. Friends at Ft. Bayard did everything in their power to aid the worthy cause. Proceeds from one performance of the Bayard Lions Minstrel were given to help pay for treatment. The rallying of aid and friendship and the efforts of the doctors constitute a shining hour in the many sordid ones of current human events. Funeral services for Gerald were held in Washington Wednesday from the W.W. Chambers funeral home in Washington. In addition to the parents, he is survived by a sister, Joyce Funk. Interment was also made in Washington.

Young: Funeral services for Mrs. H.W. Young, Pinos Altos resident who died Thursday, Sept. 6, were held Sunday at the Cox Mortuary Chapel at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Wayne Douglas, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Silver City, officiated. Burial was in the Pinos Altos cemetery. Mrs. Young came to Grant County as a child of 12 years settling with her parents in Pinos Altos. Her husband, H. W. Young, who died eight years ago, was noted in this area for his work in fruit culture and the couple had an excellent orchard known far and wide. The deceased would have observed her 68th birthday the Sunday following her death. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Estella Bagley, Burney, Calif. and Mrs. Ethel Balin, Klamath Falls, Ore.; her mother, Mrs. Harwell Scott of El Paso; a brother, Gordon Harwell and three grandchildren. Bearers for the service were B. H. Riddle, Ira L. Wright, Stuart Sterling, B. T. Wages, Harry Hickel and Harvey Forsyth.

YOUNGBLOOD: Irene Youngblood, 84, of Truth or Consequences died Wednesday at Mountain Shadows Health Care Center. She was born Dec. 1, 1912, in Center, Texas. She was a retired postmistress with the U.S. Postal Service in Buckhorn. She is survived by her husband, A.V. Youngblood of Truth or Consequences; a daughter, Betty Fogg of Santa Teresa; a sister, Floy DiRisio of Alamogordo; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Youngblood. A grave-side service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Piñon Cemetery in Piñon, N.M., with the Rev. Randall Gill-gore officiating. Arrangements are by Getz Funeral Home of Las Cruces.

YSARRARAZ: Visitation for Remedies Ysarraraz, 70, of Deming will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Baca's Funeral Chapel followed by the prayer vigil at 7 p.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same church. Ysarraraz died Saturday at the University of New Mexico Medical Center in Albuquerque. Survivors include his wife, Alicia Ysarraraz of Doming; son, Miguel Ysarraraz of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and brothers, Juan Ysarraraz of Sacramento, Calif., and Luz Ysarraraz of Juarez, Mexico.

YULE: A memorial service for Norman H. Yule will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. The Rev. Gerald D. Griffin will be celebrating a requiem. Yule died Saturday, June 21 at his home in Silver City. He was born May 25, 1922 in Lincoln, Neb. Survivors are his wife, Rosemary of Silver City; two daughters, Christine Bailey of Farming ton and Victoria York of Silver City; and three grandchildren, James Bailey of Lincoln and Joshua York and Jessica York of Silver City.

She is survived by her husband Andy Yzaguirre of Central; her parents, Pete and Rosemary Alvarado of Bayard; one sister, Amelia Aguirre of Central; three brothers, Antonio Alvarado and Carlos Alvarado both of Bayard and Rafael Alvarado of Albuquerque; paternal grandmother, Nicolasa Munoz of Los Angeles, Ca; four sisters-in-law, Elsa Constantine and Marcia Roybal of Santa Fe, Rachel Martinez of Deming and Frances Alvarado of Bayard; four brothers-in-law, Gilbert Aguirre of Central, Bobby Yzaguirre of Las Cruces, Rudy Yzaguirre of Santa Fe and Paul Roybal of Santa Fe; her mother-in-law, Nettie Yzaguirre of Deming and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Pedro Alvarado Sr. on April 15, 1984. Rosary recitation was held June 18 and Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated June 19. Both services were held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard with Father Tomas Perez officiating. Cremation followed. Pallbearers were Luis Flores Jr., Aurelio Flores, Joe Flores, Robert Marquez Jr., Adam Flores and Jerry Ruiz. Honorary pallbearers were Adolfa Maestas, Mike Trujillo, Jimmy Maldonado, Arnold Orquiz, Danny Artechie, Lionel Lopez, Kenny Martinez, Gerald Byers, John Byers and John Constantine. Arrangements were made by the Wheeler Funeral Home of Silver City.
