       Nina Viola Black Dies
Nina Viola, ten year old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. L. Black died at the family home Saturday morning. Funeral services were held at the Graham Funeral parlors, Sunday morning at nine o'clock, Rev. R. E. Dickerson of St. Paul's Methodist church officiating. Burial was made in the Masonic Cemetery.
       Nina Viola suffered infantile paralysis a number of years ago and has been an invalid ever since, gradually becoming weaker until death relieved her sufferings.

Deaths

Mrs. James McBride
       A message was received Friday afternoon telling of the death of Mrs. James McBride, which occurred at 11 o'clock at the John Sealey hospital at Dallas, Texas. Burial was made Sunday at Rockdale, Texas. Dr. and Mrs. R. E. McBride and daughter, Ada, left for Rockdale Friday evening to attend the funeral.
       Mrs. McBride, formerly Miss Miriam Lowenstein, was a teacher in the Las Cruces municipal schools for a number of years before her marriage about three years ago, and during her readdence here made a host of friends. Mr. and Mrs. McBride for the past several years have lived in El Paso. Mrs. McBride is survived by her husband and an infant son.

Deaths

Moody, G. L. died March 30, at 8:30 a.m. Had been a resident of Las Cruces for the past several years. Was president of the New Mexico Home Loan Company. Survived by one brother, W. R. Moody, of Stockton, Tex. Services will be held at Stockton and interment will be made there. Nelson's Funeral Home.

Hartley, Herman, Mesquite. Age 51 years. Died Tuesday morning. Services Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Nelson's Funeral Home.

Romero, Cleofas, Mesilla Park. Age 68 years. Died March 31. Born in Chihuahua, Mexico. Survived by husband, Marcus Romero. Services at Spanish Methodist Church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment: Municipal Cemetery. Graham's Mortuary.

Perea, Miguel, Old Mesilla. Age 18 years. Survived by mother, Carmel Perea, and father, Francisco Perea. Services tomorrow and interment at Old Mesilla. Graham's Mortuary.

Dona Ana Couple Instantly Killed When Hit by Train

Say Car turned Directly into Path of Train.
Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Barrett, well known Dona Ana Co. farmer residents, were instantly killed shortly after the noon hour yesterday when their automobile was struck at a railroad crossing one mile north of Dona Ana by a northbound Santa Fe local Train.
A collie dog belonging to the family which was riding in the car at the time of the accident escaped uninjured.   Both Mr. and Mrs. Barrett received broken necks. The car was demolished.
According to the eyewitness report of C. H. Staknke, fireman on the train, Mr. Barrett was driving parallel to the railroad tracks and turned into the railroad crossing directly in the path of the approaching train. J. Sello Baum, engineer on the train, told Deputy Sheriff Albert Brown who investigated the accident, that Fireman Staknke warned him of the approaching car but that it was too late to do anything then, he said I already had whistled for the crossing. The Barretts, who lived north of Dona Ana, were just returning from town where they had been purchasing groceries when the accident occurred. They had resided near Dona Ana which is three miles north of here, for the past 15 years.
A coroner's jury returned a verdict, attributing the cause of death to injuries received when a train struck the Barrett's automobile. Mr. Barrett's age was given as 40 years and that of wife, 30. Mrs. Barrett's mother, Mrs. G. I. Maloy, lives at Fairacres. The are survived by one daughter, LaVerne, nine years old, who was in school at the time.
Their bodies are being held at the Nelson Funeral Home pending investigation by the railroad company's adjusters. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the Nelson Funeral Home and burial made in the Masonic Cemetery.

Well Known La Mesa Resident Buried Sunday
Services Are held At La Mesa Methodist Church
Last rites for Nancy Elizabeth Cooper, 62, will known resident of La Mesa, were held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the La Mesa Methodist church, with the Rev. Z. B. Moon officiating.
       Mrs. Cooper, who died Saturday evening at her home, leaves a husband, Taris A. Cooper, two sons, Herbert of La Mesa and J. S. Cooper of Farwell, Texas.

Pioneer Woman Dies at Dona Ana Residence

       Mrs. Santos Terrez, 43 years old, one of Dona Ana County's most prominent pioneers, was buried Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Catholic Chursh at Dona Ana.
       She had been a resident of Dona Ana county for many years and took a socially active part in the up building of that community. Death came suddenly Saturday night. Interment was made in the Dona Ana cemetery.
       Nelson' Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

Father Dies
Francisco C. DeBaca, father of Lt. Gov. Louis C. Debaca, died suddenly at his ranch home near here today. Funeral will be held tomorrow.

Pioneer Resident is Buried Today

       Funeral services were held for Estanisada Balizan for many years a resident of Las Cruces, this afternoon at o'clock from St. Genevieve's Catholic Church.
       Mr. Balizan was born in 1884 here in Las Cruces. He is survived by four children. two daughters, Cleotilde and Teresa, and two boys Valentine and Miguel.
       Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Nelson's Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Wm. Johnson to be Buried Here
       Funeral services for William Johnson, 73, for 50 years a resident of Las Cruces and vicinity, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock from St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, the Nelson Funeral Home announced today.
       Mr. Johnson, who was born in Socorro, resided with his wife and family at their suburban home west of town. For six years he was connected with the Dona Ana County Health Department and leaves a wide circle of friends in social and official circles.
       He is survived by his wife, Matilda Johnson, and six children, Lawrence Johnson of Las Angeles, and Willie, Frank, Richard and Ameila, all of Las Cruces, and Mrs. Virginia Carrillo, also of Las Cruces.
       Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. He died May 17.

Woman Died From Natural Causes

Hot Springs, May 17---Dr. Fred Leslie, who with Dr. Willis Waite of El Paso, conducted an autopsy into the death of Mrs. Chas. Bevels, comp ground owner here, who died early Wednesday, said they found death occurred from natural causes.
       Earlier in the day an inquest into the woman's death from causes unknown.
