Poteet Cemetery
Near Rodeo, Hidalgo County, New Mexico

A 2004 message on the Poteet forum stated this:
There is a small family cemetery near Rodeo, NM usually referred to as the Poteet family cemetery. Local stories place them as homesteaders in the late 1800's that left Texas to come here. The Father of P. W. Sanders  (James Sanders)  along with his Father and brothers, was a Texas Ranger in 1859 and 1961. They were stationed at Fort Inge – near Uvalde, Texas under the command of Capt.  R. W. Black. [Info from the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame in Waco, Texas.] The cemetery contains 7 visible graves though there may be more. It has a metal fence around some of them with 6-16-1919 in the cement at the gate. There are only 3 headstones with info. Allie McBee wife of F. M. Poteet/Oct. 10, 1896 Aug 20, 1917; P. W. Sanders 1868-1919 F. M. Poteet/1879-1919.
