Eugene Manlove Rhodes grave is located on the White Sands Missile Range on the Diamond A property just a few hundred yards inside the Military Range Gate. Take I25 to State Hwy 70 to Alamogordo. Check at the White Sands National Monument for precise directions. This information recorded and used with permission by the Sierra County Genealogical Society.

Fort McRae Cemetery

Fort McRae located on Elephant Butte Lake on the south side of McRae Canyon at the waters edge was established April 3 1863. It was named for Capt. Alexander McRae who died at the Battle of Valverde. Fort McRae was abandoned Oct 30 1876. The fort is now covered by Elephant Butte lake. Interments  buried at Fort McRae were relocated to National State public or private cemeteries. Capt. McRae’s remains first interred at Fort Craig New Mexico were removed and buried at West Point New York June 5 1867.  This information given by the Sierra Co. Genealogical Society and used with their permission.
