She was born in Vermejo Park, Colfax County, NM 19 Aug 1886. She married Lionires
Olivas 26 Nov 1902. She is survived by her husband and 2 children Eloisa and Candido
Olivas. Parents Erino Maes and Juanita Valdez de Maes. 3 brothers and 1 sister.

257- Cleofas Trujillo Age 20 Years, 4 months and 22 days of Ocate, NM. Died at 12:00
AM 6 Aug 1912. Survived by husband Arsenio Cruz, 1 year old son. Mother and several
siblings. No names listed.
258- Pacomio Arguello Died 24 June 1912. Survived by wife Simona G. de Arguello.
259- Refugio L. de Apodaca of Cimarron, NM. Died 12 July 1912 at 2:00 PM. Wife of
the deceased Guillermo Apodaca. Survived by son Pedro A. Martinez and daughter Paulita
A. Martinez.
260- Juanita M. de Cruz Age 28 of Ortiz, Colo. Died 6 Aug 1912 at 4:00 PM. Survived
by husband Ramon Cruz, 3 children of a young age. Father Jose Mares and 3 sisters.
261- Martin Atencio of Ignacio Colo was killed in his bed in his house.( News paper
edition 7 June 1912). He was struck on the head and face with a double bladed axe.
He was injured so severely that his brain matter was scattered throughout the bed.
Juan Garcia was accused of the murder because he was infatuated with Martin Atencio's
wife. The mother of 5 children. She claims her husband was hurt and killed by a
horse. News paper edition 16 Aug 1912. Juan Garcia confessed in court to killing
Martin Atencio May 10 1912 in Ignacio, Colo and was sentenced to life in prison.
The wife who had conspired with Garcia to kill her husband so they could continue
their lifes in "concubinato,"(concubinage) was sentenced to 2 years in prison and
a $ 500 dollar fine.
262- Juan de Dios Trujillo Age 62 of Abiquiu, NM. Died 20 Aug 1912 in his residence.
Survived by wife Juana M. de Trujillo and a daughter. Name not listed.
263- We have received the tragic news from Santa Fe, NM 2 Sept 1912 of the death
of Salomon Luna from Valencia County NM. He accompanied his nephew Eduardo Otero
and Mr. Fullenton to one of his sheep ranches in Ojo Del Caballo Socorro County,
NM. That night they decided to sleep in one of the rooms of a house on the ranch.
During the night he got out of bed and it is believed that he had gone to a water
tank to get some water possible to drink. That he bent over the edge and fell in
and drowned. He was found about 4 hours later. He was a wealthy merchant and member
of the legislature.

266- Juanita Reyna Age 11 of Taos Pueblo, NM burned to death last sunday (7 Sept
1912). She was playing near a fire being used for cooking when her clothes caught
on fire.
267- Cenaida Rebbeca Gonzales Age 1 month and 20 days of El Prado, NM. Died Yesterday
thursday 12 Sept 1912. Daughter of Isidro Gonzales and wife. No name listed.
268- Juan Francisco Salazar Age 25 of Los Cerritos, Colo. Died 28 Aug 1912 at 1:00
AM.
269- Nuestra Amada Madre (Our beloved mother) no name listed. Age 53 of Dixon, NM.
No date of death noted. Death notice dated 5 Sept 1912. Survived by husband Jose
Cayetano Lobato; Daughter Nestora L. de Pacheco and son Maximiliano Lobato (He submitted
the death notice), She died of Fiebre Malaria. (Fever Malaria).
270- Francisquita G. Gonzales de Marquez of Westom, Col, Died in Veda, NM 17 Aug
1912 at 5:00 PM. She went from Weston, Colo to Veda, NM hoping the change in climate
would help cure her of her illness. She died in her brother in law's Juan D. Marquez
house. She is survived by her husband Pedro Marquez; Sons Macedonio, Brigido, Margarito
and Porfirio Marquez; Daughter Veroniz Santistevan.
271- Veronis L. Rendon Age 15 years, 11 months and 16 days of Dixon, Colo (NM) died
13 Sept 1912 at 3:00 PM. Survived by husband J. D. Rendon, young son. Father J.
P. Lujan, 1 sister and 2 brothers. Names not listed.
272- Tranquilino Valdez Age 30 died 24 Sept 1912 in Edith Colo. Where he was employed
by the Baggs Lumber Co. He was working in the saw mill and a piece of lumber was
pushed by the saw blades and struck him on the stomach. He died 6 hours later. He
was buried in the cemetery at Park View Rio Arriba County, NM. He is survived by
his wife Manuelita M. de Valdez; Father Guadalupe Valdez, 4 brothers and 3 sister.
273- Antonio Martinez Age 69 died at home in Holland, NM. 24 Sept 1912. Survived
by wife Juanita de Martinez and a daughter.
274- Placida Quintana Age 55 of Ranchos de Taos, NM. Died 20 Sept 1912. Survived

while playing with other children at school during recess. Daughter of Epimenio
Leon.
281- Libradita Garcia de Martinez wife of Fabian Martinez of Ignacio, Colo. Died
22 Oct 1912 in Mercy Hospital at Durancgo, Colo. Her death came as a result of a
gun shot wound to her leg. There was a dance being held in her residence when there
was a disturbance between some people, including Brayn Shanman, who tried to pull
out his pistol and while doing so it discharged and the bullet struck libradita
Garcia de Martinez on the leg.

NM. Died 22 Nov 1912 3:00 AM she died of pneumonia. Parents Manuel Velasquez and

a heart attack. Survived by husband Gabriel Aranda and daughter Juanita Vigil. Buried

8:00 PM. He was a military veteran having served during the 1860 civil war in the
" Tercer Regimiento y Compania D. De Los Voluntarios Montados Soldado Voluntario,
" 3rd Regiment Company D of the Mounted (Calvary) Voluntary Soldiers. He was born
June 1826. Survived by daughter Cleofas Coca; Grandson Frank C. Gusdorf, granddaughter
Margarita M. Gusdorf and a niece Senaida Vigil.
292-Manuel Garcia of Ranchos de Taos, NM. Died 5 Jan 1913 at 8:00 AM. Survived by
3 sons and 1 daughter. Buried at the Hartt Cemetery in Ranchos de Taos, NM.
293- Albertito Trujillo Age 1 year, 3 months and 3 days of Talpa, NM. Buried in

294- Epimenio Garcia of Wagon Mound, NM. Died 25 Dec 1912 in Dawson, NM. A little
before noon. He was employed by the El Paso South Western. He and a companion Luciano
Barela were working on some rail road cars. He walked between two cars that were
separated about 3 feet when one of the cars was struck by a locomotive. He was knocked
down on the rail road tracks where the wheels struck him on the head. Survived by
his wife Manuelita Garcia. He was the son of Crestino Garcia and Elioner M. Garcia.

309- Bonifacio Lucero and his brother J. D. Lucero were walking to the town of Mogote,
Colo. They were crossing the rail road tracks but due to the strong winds and heavy
snow they did not hear or see the train approaching them. J. D. Lucero was able
to jump out of the way but Bonifacio Lucero was struck and killed by the train.

Arriba County NM.

Pacheco. He was born 2 July 1903.
324- Jose Ciriaco Torres of La Petaca Rio Arriba County, NM. Died 8 March 1913 at
11:00 AM. He was the foreman of a group of men digging a tunnel about 40 feet deep.
About 6 or 7 tons of soil, dirt and rocks that was being held up by posts fell on
him killing him instantly. He is survived by wife, 4 children, father and 2 brothers.

326- Matias de Jesus Cruz of Trinidad, Colo. Died 23 Feb 1913 about 5:30 PM. He
was in the field tending some sheep, he was found dead by a brother Nestor Cruz.
He was born in in Arroyo Seco Taos County NM 24 Feb 1854. Son of the deceased Juan
Antonio Cruz and Maria Lorenza Bachicha. He married Justa Sanchez 6 Nov 1879, daughter
of Victor Sanchez and Perfecta Martinez, deceased. They had 12 children, 3 still
survive Crucita Cruz de Gonzales, Perfecta Cruz and Tomasita Cruz.
327- Delfina Vigil Age 12 years and 2 months of Ocate, NM. Died 9 March 1913 10:00
AM. Daughter of Juan Antonio Vigil and Sesionita S. Vigil. She was a student in
Miss L. Cruz 4th grade class in Ocate, NM.
328- Delfina V. de Baca Age 22 of Chimayo Rio Arriba County NM. Died 13 March 1913.
Survived by husband Sicilio Baca a son 4 years old; Mother Doloritas M. de Vigil

330- Luciano Garcia Age 77 of Talpa, NM. Died 9 March 1913. Survived by 3 sons and

331- Tito Fernando Salazar Age 9 months and 13 days of Chacon, NM. Died 18 March
1913 of Pneumonia. Survived by parents F. M. Salazar and Caterina C, de Salazar;
Grandparents A. A. Cordova and wife.
332- Eliseo Sanchez Age 32 of Ojo Sarco Rio Arriba County, NM. Died 15 March 1913
at 11:00 AM. Son of Manuel Sanchez and wife. Eliseo Sanchez attended school in the
Mora public school and graduated from St. Michael College in Santa Fe, NM. he was
employed by the St. Louis Rocky Mountain Ry. Co. Colfax County NM. After 3 years
of employment in 1910 there occurred a landslide in the mine he was working. The
dirt and rock fell on him crushing and breaking his legs and causing other injuries.
He was treated in the Gartner hospital for 6 months. His injuries/illness turned
into a cancer. He went home and after 3 years of medical treatment he died.

Martinez and Dulcinea de Martinez. Grandson of Clemante R. Mascarenas and Rosario
de Mascarenas. Buried in the Pina, NM. Cemetery.
336- Eulogio Maes 58 of Los Montes, NM. Died 26 March 1913. He died of Hidropsea
(Edema) that he suffered for a month and 14 days. Survived by wife Maria Altagracia
Maes, 3 sons and 6 daughters.
337- Antonio D. Arguello Age 49 of Corrumpa, NM. Died 1 April 1913. Survived by
Mother Isabel T. de Arguello, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Names not listed.
338- Maria Estefanita Martinez de Madrid Age 64 of Llano Largo, NM. Died 26 March
1913 at 10:00 AM. Sept 1865 she married Jose Ignacio madrid. They were married 47-1/2
years. Survived by husband and a daughter with 5 grandchildren and several brothers.
Funeral was held 27 March 1913 in the chapel of San Acasio Llano Largo, NM. Death
notice by Juan A. Madrid (Son-in-law).
339- Josefita Archuleta de Martinez Age 83 of Melachite, Colo. Died 21 March 1913.
Wife of the deceased Felipe Martinez, they were married for 66 years. They lived
in Rio Colorado and Culebra, Colo. They came to this county in 1870 where they resided.
They are survived by 8 children.

of childbirth. Survived by husband Amarante Maes; Father Francisco Trujillo; Brother

April 1913 at 8:00 PM. Survived by husband Flavio Jaramillo. Daughter of Lucas Velasquez

345- Escolastica Trujillo de Martinez Age 27 of Arroyo Hondo, NM. Burned to death,
She was baking bread in the outdoor oven (Horno) she had pulled the fire and ashes
out and placed them on the side of the oven. When she placed the dough in the oven
she brushed the fire with her clothes which caught on fire. One of her sisters being
nearby placed a blanket around her to douse the fire, but it was to late. She was
treated by Dr. Williams but she died the next day at 4:00 PM. Survived by husband
Jose del Carmen Martinez, who was working in Hanna, Wyo. She was the daughter of
Jose Leon Trujillo and Beatris A. de Trujillo. She has 2 daughters Magdalena 5 years
old and Odilia 6 months old. She was Buried in the Arroyo Hondo NM Catholic Cemetery.
346- Roman Martinez Age 84 of El Prado, NM. Died 20 April 1913 Sunday at midnight.
Survived by son Toribio Martinez. Buried in the Pueblo Cemetery.
347- Ana Wertz de Barela Age 62 of Ranchos de Taos, NM. Died 24 April 1913. She
was born in Ranchos de Taos, NM in 1851. Survived by husband Manuel Barela; Daughter
Tomasita Garcia de Chavez; Brother Moises Wertz and 4 grandchildren. Buried 25 April
1913 in the Ranchos de Taos, NM Cemetery.
348- Petrita Celestina Martinez Age 5 years of Ranchos de Taos, NM. Died 3 May 1913.
