Taos County was created 9 January 1852. Taos is the county seat of Taos County.
Taos is an ancient Indian Village built several hundred years ago. This beautiful county
 is the center for artists and professional people. Tourism is a major commercial activity.
Kit Carson loved the area. He lived there several years.
